A campaign of supporting hostesses of homestay hotels to promote rural revitalization in the Yangtze River Delta region is held in Pukou District, Nanjing City, East China's Jiangsu Province, on September 4. [Jiangsu Women's Federation]

A women-led campaign to promote the role of homestay hotels in the rural revitalization of the Yangtze River Delta region was launched in Pukou District, Nanjing City, East China's Jiangsu Province, on September 4.

The campaign, initiated by local government departments and women's federations, will involve the development and training of homestay hotel hostesses and incubation of homestay hotels in provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui in East China and Shanghai Municipality. Through further developing women's homestay hotel facilities in the region and boosting the high-quality development of the homestay hotel industry, it aims to facilitate rural revitalization and the country's battle against poverty.

During the event, Cui Juan, Vice-President of the Jiangsu Women's Federation, noted that the campaign will help the homestay hotel industry in this region explore more resources in a more open manner and continuously improve its standardization, normalization and brand construction. 

A good platform, collaborative efforts and exploration of new paths are necessary to promote the development of the homestay hotel industry and form a new development pattern in the Yangtze River Delta region, Cui added.

Cui also urged the women's federations at all levels in Jiangsu Province to learn from the women's federations of Shanghai and Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, and work together to build a joint mechanism, in a bid to lead and train outstanding hostesses and support more women to run homestay hotels.

A think tank was established by the Homestay Hotel Hostesses' Alliance of the Yangtze River Delta and the experts of the think tank will guide the alliance members how to run homestay hotels, promote the development, transformation and innovation of the homestay hotel industry, and help establish the standards of the industry.

During the event, women representatives of the industry in the region shared their experiences of the management of homestay hotels and the integration of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries. They also discussed how to set up the standards of homestay hotels and establish a better-connected industry.

In 2018, the women's federations of Shanghai Municipality and Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces formulated a three-year action plan centering on the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

In recent years, the Jiangsu Women's Federation has guided the entrepreneurial leaders in four woman-dominated industries, including housekeeping, e-commerce, homestay hotels and handicrafts, to set up women's alliances at provincial level, helping women play positive roles in the development of the Yangtze River Delta region and achieve common benefits.
