The Department of Justice of Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and Ningxia's women's federation and bar association recently held a ceremony to announce the establishment of women and children's rights-protection work stations in 10 local law firms.
In March 2019, the Women's Federation of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region established such stations in 23 law firms. The stations during the past year have handled 1,596 cases involving the infringement of women and children's rights and interests. So far, Ningxia has set up 76 women and children's rights-protection work stations in the region's law firms.
In 2017, the federation established the Women and Children's Rights-protection Center of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. In addition to providing marriage and family mediation services to women, the center provides rights-protection services, including operating the federation's hotline, 0951-12338, through which women and/or children can seek legal assistance in protecting their rights and interests.
The federation in recent years has promoted the promulgation of laws and regulations pertaining to the protection of women and children's legal rights and interests, including the Regulations of Ningxia on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests, the directive on strengthening the region's work related to the protection of women and children's legal rights and interests, and the notice on establishing the work mechanism, through which various organizations work together under that system to protect women and children's rights and interests.
The Regulations of Ningxia on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests, which took effect in November 2019, contain many provisions for protecting women's legal rights and interests.
