To promote the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important statements (in recent years) on promoting gender equality and women's all-round development, Anhui Working Committee on Children and Women from August 25-27 held the workshop on the promotion of gender equality within primary and middle schools. The event, which was held in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui Province, was intended to help teachers, throughout the province, better understand the importance of promoting gender equality among children, and to help the teachers improve their ability to promote gender equality when they are teaching.

Liu Ping, Deputy Director of the Working Committee on Children and Women of Anhui Province and President of Anhui Women's Federation, spoke during the opening ceremony. Nearly 100 people — including officials of education departments and leaders of the women's federations and the working committees on children and women, at all levels across the province — attended.

Liu said women's federations, at all levels across the province, should make greater efforts to promote the basic State policy of gender equality among residents, especially among children.

Organizers arranged for trainees to attend lectures, provided by scholars (who study sociology), to help trainees raise their awareness of the importance of promoting gender equality.

Many participants said they benefited greatly from the training. They also said the lectures gave them greater confidence in their ability to promote gender equality within their schools.
