To promote social justice and harmony within families, Jiangsu Women's Federation and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Justice recently held a conference to promote Jiangsu's work related to helping residents resolve family disputes. The event was held in Changzhou, a city in East China's Jiangsu Province. Organizers designated 110 family mediation community studios, in various regions of Jiangsu Province, as standard family mediation community studios. Organizers also held a ceremony to announce the establishment of Jiangsu Marriage and Family Relations Improvement Demonstration Center, the first of its kind in the province.
So far, Jiangsu has established dozens of people's mediation committees in various regions of the province. The committees have employed 1,610 full-time "mediators" and 9,861 part-time "mediators," who help resolve residents' family disputes. Jiangsu has also set up 419 family mediation community studios. So far, the committees and the studios have handled a combined 114,000 cases involving family disputes.
