Chengdu Women's Federation recently conducted an activity, during which about 1,000 women volunteers advocated healthy-living concepts among residents of Pidu (a district in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province). The volunteers encouraged the residents to live a low-carbon life, to promote the harmonious development of people and nature. The event was part of the federation's efforts to popularize information about the 10 projects, implemented by Chengdu's Municipal Government, to help residents improve their livelihoods.
Organizers told media the volunteers would provide a combined 25 lectures to residents, to help them increase their knowledge about environmental protection. Organizers also said the volunteers would conduct 30 activities, to advocate healthy-living concepts (among residents), including the concepts of saving water, sorting garbage and transforming decayed items into valuables.
