Members of the fifth medical team from Southwest China's Guizhou Province aiding the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Central China's Hubei Province ended their 14-day quarantine and got out of the hotel for isolation on April 1. They were ready to go back to their loved ones.
Nie Xuesong, a member of the medical team, received a surprise from her boyfriend Cheng Shijie, an employee of China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group — he proposed to her after she walked out the hotel.
Cheng had intended to make the proposal during their scheduled travel at the beginning of the year, but the sudden COVID-19 outbreak disrupted his plan. "After the anti-epidemic fight, she is not only my lover, but also my heroine. I will love her forever," he said.
