A female domestic worker's resume has recently been flooding people's screens advertising her superb qualities and rich experience.
Its owner, Liu Shuang, graduated from Xi'an International Studies University with a master's degree in French language and literature. She worked in a large telecom company for a spell after graduating from the university.
Controversy has been triggered about why such a highly-educated woman would chose housekeeping service as her profession.
For Liu, it is coincidental that she took up housekeeping job. "The position requires good communication and tidying skills, which are just in line with my strong points," she said in an interview on May 27.
"It is not a waste of my knowledge and experience. I didn't felt regret because I did it out of my own interest," Liu added in response to people's doubts over her vocational choice.
Her background also helps her to earn higher payment in the new career. "Customers take my language abilities into account. They wish to offer their children high-quality family education apart from a companion," Liu said.
The post, responsible for caring for the children and with a standard nine-to-five schedule and two-days off a week, provides liberal benefits and wages of 20,000 yuan (US $2,805.91) per month.
Liu is confident about her future. "To do domestic work is my first step to starting a business, and this group should welcome more and more young and highly-educated people."
According to a survey, the proportion of undergraduates and graduates in domestic workers has increased in the past couple of years, in spite of a still small number. The survey was conducted among 79,820 domestic workers in 2019 by the Integrity and Self-discipline Platform of the Guangzhou Family Service Industry Association.
In addition, many colleges and universities began to add housecraft majors, and relevant favorable policies have been rolled out.
Some analysts say things have changed in people's concepts on the profession as well as the housekeeping industry itself.
"There is no need to fuss about the vocational choice of a highly-skilled talent," some netizens
wrote on social media platforms.
