The 9th Asian Winter Games opened in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on February 7. The Games, themed "Dream of Winter, Love Among Asia," has attracted more than 1,200 athletes from 34 countries or regions across Asia. China sent 170 athletes, a contingent composed of 85 men and 85 women, to compete in 64 events across six sports. The Games have become a bond that links countries and regions in Asia. The Games also boost the ice-and-snow economy, and they enhance people-to-people exchanges. Over the long term, it is expected the Games will help deepen regional cooperation, and help build a region of common development.
