 June 24, 2020

Publishing House: China Women Publishing House

Publishing Time: January 2020

Diligence and Happiness: Stories of Chinese Women Shaking off Poverty stood out with 124 other candidates out of 1,911 kinds of publications on June 16 as eligible for the 2020 major themed publications announced by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The book aims to inspire people by passing on positive energy, as this year marks the final push to clinch a complete victory in eradicating poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

The book depicts more than 50 women's poverty-relief stories, including those of the models who led locals to escape poverty and of the officials of the women's federations who contributed to assistance. It uncovers the efforts of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) in the battle against poverty and the Women's Action for Poverty Alleviation that the ACWF initiated in 2015.

It reflects on a big theme by selecting stories with details, trying to boost the nation's morale to secure the decisive victory in poverty alleviation and to demonstrate the female forces for creating a beautiful life.

In addition, the English version can better convey to the world the fortitude and elegant demeanor of the Chinese people and Chinese women.

The publications selected by the Publicity Department include 110 books and 15 audiovisual products. Local publishing and distribution groups are expected to hold sales exhibitions to popularize them.
