China Women's University Honors Outstanding Volunteers
The China Women's University (CWU) honored on April 21, 2015 five student volunteers, who outperformed in the volunteer-led campaign to provide support for northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
All participants and attendees at the commendation ceremony watched together a promotional film on Xinjiang's development and on volunteers' studies and lives in the vast northwestern region.
The five outstanding volunteers shared with students their stories, feelings and gains in the volunteer campaign, with their passion and persistence moving all those in attendance.
Members of the campaign's promotional team interacted with students and gave detailed explanations of the campaign-related policies and of the volunteer selection process.
Since the campaign was initiated in 2003, a total of 17 students and four teachers from CWU have contributed their efforts to volunteer service in Xinjiang.
The activity was well attended, featuring officials such as Wang Shuguang, deputy director of the state-owned Assets Center of the Financial Bureau in the high-tech zone of Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang; Yu Xin from the Beijing Volunteer Service Guidance Center of Beijing; Jia Zehao from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Sun Mengling from Xinjiang's Maimengti County Association of Industry and Commerce; Hei Hongwei from Xinjiang's Mulei County Bureau of Radio and Television; Wang Juguang from the Police Station in the high-tech zone of Urumqi; Feng Baosen from Xinjiang's Jizhou County Youth League Committee; and student representatives from various CWU departments.
