Women from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Discuss Spirit of Sixth Plenary Session of 19th CPC Central Committee

Women from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Macao SAR and Taiwan Province recently discussed the guiding principles that came out of the plenary session. Many of the women said they will be more determined and more proactive when they shoulder the historical responsibility of national rejuvenation with people in the Chinese mainland.

Shouldering Responsibility

Ho Teng Iat, Deputy Director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, member of the Standing Committee of ACWF from Macao and President of the Women's General Association of Macao, said Macao's residents should study the guiding principles of the communique of the plenum, draw wisdom from the experiences of the Party over the past century, and take the initiative to shoulder the historical responsibility of national rejuvenation with compatriots in the Chinese mainland.

Ngan Po Ling, NPC deputy from Hong Kong and member of the executive committee of ACWF, said reunification of the motherland and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation are always the unremitting pursuits of hundreds of millions of Chinese, and China firmly opposes foreign interference in Hong Kong's affairs.

"I will study the guiding principles of the plenum, bear in mind the country's most fundamental interests, stay true to the original aspiration and implement my responsibility," Melinda Chan Mei Yi, member of the executive committee of ACWF from Macao and part-time Vice-President of Guangdong Women's Federation, said.

Ling Youshi, CPPCC member from Hong Kong and member of the executive committee of ACWF, and Wu Jingyi, special invited representative of ACWF and member of CPPCC Fujian Committee, said the Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century addresses the significance of traditional Chinese culture. They both vowed to advocate the tradition of loving the country, loving Hong Kong and promoting the prosperity and development of Hong Kong's culture.

Governing Hong Kong, Macao in Accordance with Law

Hong Kong Federation of Women recently issued a statement, in which the federation vowed it will do its best to shoulder the responsibility of representing Hong Kong women, promoting Hong Kong women's understanding of national policies, and giving full play to women's unique, soft power to contribute to the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.

Maggie Chan Man Ki, NPC deputy from Hong Kong and member of the executive committee of ACWF, Alice Mak Mei Kuen, member of the executive committee of ACWF, and Carmen Kan, special invited representative of ACWF, said the resolution shows both the determination and the capability of China to implement the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong" and to maintain Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability. They added it also demonstrates the continued success and vitality of "One Country, Two Systems."

Connie W C Wong, Yang Zhihong and Ye Shunxing, CPPCC members from Hong Kong and members of the executive committee of ACWF, and Wendy Man, special invited representative of ACWF, said, under the Party's leadership, Hong Kong has returned to the motherland and integrated into the country's rapid development, and the 14th Five-Year Plan and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has provided new opportunities for Hong Kong's development.

Jiang Yan and Chen Congcong, members of the executive committee of ACWF from Hong Kong, Guerfu, Zhang Xinyu, Zhang Zuojiao, Lu Hai and Su Lizhen , special invited representatives of ACWF, Maisy Ho, part-time Vice-President of Guangdong Women's Federation, Tu Yaya, member of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Women's Federation, and Zhou Qianyi and Zhao Li, members of the executive committee of Beijing Women's Federation, said Hong Kong has entered the new era of "patriots governing Hong Kong," and that women should be encouraged to support candidates who love the country and Hong Kong, bear in mind the country's concern for Hong Kong and give full play to the unique advantages of "One Country, Two Systems."

Lin Wanmei, member of the executive committee of ACWF from Macao and Director General of the Women's General Association of Macao, Zhao Yinying, Vice-President of the Women's General Association of Macao, Zhong Yi, Liu Jinling, Wang Aiping, Fang Quan and Yuan Xiaoling, special invited representatives of ACWF, He Mei'e, member of the executive committee of Guangxi Women's Federation, and Zhao Jing, special invited representative of Beijing Women's Federation, said Macao has enjoyed social harmony and stability since its return to the motherland, and its residents have lived and worked in harmony and contentment, and that demonstrates the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" is correct, feasible and popular. They also said Macao should unite women and promote the correct concept of the State and national consciousness among women, give full play to its institutional advantages, seize the opportunity of developing the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (in Zhuhai, in South China's Guangdong Province), and contribute to China's opening-up and high-quality development in the new era.

Sharing Mission, Glory

Tu Minghui, President of Taiwan Chinese Women Party, said opposing separatists' activities seeking "Taiwan independence" and foreign interference in Taiwan is the most important precondition for peaceful reunification of the two sides in the future, and the experiences of the CPC in the past century are worth learning.

"We will promote the integrated development of women on both sides, and we will make unremitting efforts to rejuvenate Chinese culture," Lee Hung Lan, Chairperson of the Working Committee on Women of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, said.

Feng Kaiyu, President of the Association of Taiwan Women in Beijing, said she expects more cross-Strait cultural-exchange activities will help compatriots in Taiwan realize the determination and strength of the motherland, and express to the world the common wish for peaceful reunification.

Chen Xiurong, part-time Vice-President of Fujian Women's Federation and Honorary President of Fujian Overseas Women's Association, said China has always adhered to the principle of "both sides of the Taiwan Strait are of one family," and China has always implemented preferential policies and measures to benefit Taiwan and its people. "We should study the guiding principles of the session, achieve personal value and social value and realize dreams in the new era," she said.

Contributing to Realizing Chinese Dream

Members of several women's federations, associations and organizations in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan said they will lead women in studying and reviewing the history of the CPC, promoting better integration into the overall development of the country, and encouraging women to undertake the great cause, advocate civilized social trends and pursue their dreams.

Zhang Wanwan, Chen Xiaoyan, Lin Minjie and Huang Yu, delegates to the 12th National Women's Congress from Taiwan, said they will shoulder the responsibility of connecting with and serving Taiwan women, and they vowed they will contribute to the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
