A launch ceremony of an exhibition, a picture album and a letters collection with the theme of "Women Shine in the Fight Against COVID-19" was held on November 4 at the China National Museum of Women and Children in Beijing.

At the ceremony, Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), launched the event with guests from home and abroad.

Shen visited the exhibition and spoke highly of the role of women medical workers in the fight against COVID-19. She encouraged women medical workers attending the ceremony to continue to carry forward the country's great anti-epidemic spirit and make more contributions to building a modern socialist country in all respects.

Noting that China's anti-COVID-19 fight has fully proved that only solidarity and cooperation can beat such an epidemic, Shen said that people are living in an interconnected global village with a common stake, and deepening solidarity and cooperation and building a community with a shared future will be the common pursuit of all.

Huang Xiaowei, Vice President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF and Vice Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, addressed the event.

Huang underlined women's great importance in the anti-epidemic fight which has showcased China's spirit, strength and sense of responsibility. She indicated that the exhibition, the picture album and the letters collection are of great significance in promoting the great spirit of combating COVID-19 and inspiring people to forge ahead in unity.

Huang expressed her gratitude to international organizations and agencies such as UN Women for their selfless support and assistance to the Chinese people, and she hoped that guided by the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, all countries will join hands to help women shake off the impact of COVID-19.

Smriti Aryal, Head of the Office, UN Women China, hailed the outstanding contributions of Chinese women and acknowledged the leading role of the women's federations in uniting women from all walks of life in China in the anti-COVID-19 fight in her speech. She noted that UN Women stands ready to deepen cooperation with the ACWF and work together to realize gender equality and women's all-round development.

During the ceremony, Wang Yu'e, representative of medical workers aiding Hubei Province, and Shen Hang and Liu Huiwu, author representatives of the letters collection Love from Loved Ones, shared their stories of participating in the anti-epidemic fight.

The exhibition is hosted by the ACWF, organized by the China National Museum of Women and Children and co-organized by the China Medical Women's Association, the Chinese Nursing Association, the China Association of Women Photographers and the China Female Artists Association.

Featuring more than 300 photos, videos and material objects, it highlights the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core and its earnest solicitude for Chinese women, women's important roles on all fronts in coordinating epidemic prevention and control and work and production resumption, and the positive actions of the women's federations in guiding women to take part in the fight against COVID-19, strengthening international anti-pandemic cooperation and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Produced by the ACWF and supported by UN Women, the picture album titled "Women Shine in the Fight Against COVID-19" contains more than 300 photos and six parts, which are "Stay Together, Stay Strong," "The Most Lovable People," "Most Beautiful Snapshots of Women," "Small Family, Great Love," "Unite Women's Strength" and "Of the Same Mind."

Eleven letters from families of medical workers supporting Hubei were selected and compiled into a 24,000-word book titled "Love from Loved Ones," which includes 65 photos displaying the dedication of the medical workers and the contributions of the families behind them.
