Where Are We Going? Dad, is a program broadcast by Hunan TV that depicts an overnight journey taken by five celebrity fathers and one of their children. It debuted across the country in October 2013 and has since won high ratings. Its verified account on SinaWeibo, China's largest microblogging site, has also attracted millions of followers.
Much of the show's appeal comes from its star-studded cast: Olympic diver-turned-actor Tian Liang and his daughter Cindy, Taiwanese actor Jimmy Lin and his son Kimi, actor Guo Tao and his son Stone, model Zhang Liang and his son Tian Tian, and director Wang Yuelun and his daughter Angela.
In each episode, the five celebrity dads and their young children need to complete tasks such as finding ingredients for cooking food in the countryside. Each task requires the father-child pairs to cooperate with each other while pitting them against other teams.
The film of the same name as has been being shot in Guangzhou, the capital city of south China's Guangdong Province. It stars the same cast and the five celebrities and their children spend five days in Guangzhou's Chimelong Safari Park encountering adventures, while learning about love for animals and nature along the way.
The film will premiere on January 31, which is the Chinese Lunar New Year's Day.
