Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), joined a symposium with representatives of the women's federations at all levels in Southeast China's Fujian Province on June 11, to study and discuss measures to implement the spirit of the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The participants also discussed how to unite and lead women to contribute to building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Stressing the people-centered development philosophy, Shen called for giving full play to the role of women's federations in guiding, serving and contacting women, in boosting economic and social development, maintaining overall social stability, promoting national reunification, and making greater contributions to achieving the first Centenary Goal as scheduled.
Representatives of presidents, part-time vice-presidents and members of the executive committees
of the women's federations at all levels in Fujian Province and heads of the Women's Micro Homes spoke at the symposium.
Shen spoke highly of the new achievements made by the women's federations when hearing that the provincial women's federation plans to build or extend five kindergartens, and establish more Women's Micro Homes in new sectors, new social classes and new groups, especially in the enterprises where most employees are women.

Shen urged the women's federations at all levels to mobilize women to continue to participate in regular epidemic prevention and control work and patriotic health campaigns, including organizing activities of creating beautiful homes, promoting garbage sorting and women's health lectures, in a bid to create a clean and healthy living environment for women, children and families.
The women's federations should strive for supportive policies for industries where many women are employed, such as commerce, catering, culture and tourism, hand knitting, housekeeping services and rural e-commerce, and help them keep a stable payroll and promote production and sales.
Shen required greater efforts in helping the women's enterprises solve their problems and supporting female college students to find jobs or start their own businesses, so more women are able to get jobs and obtain income.
Enhanced efforts should also be made to ensure a decisive victory in poverty alleviation, combine poverty alleviation with rural revitalization, and actively participate in the anti-poverty cooperation and pairing-up assistance between the eastern and the western regions, helping more impoverished women find ways to live better lives and become rich.
Shen also stressed family work and the importance of moral education, giving full play to the role of family, family education and traditions in social governance at primary level.
Women's federations were also urged to care for and assist impoverished women, disabled women and left-behind women, publicize the Civil Code to women and families, and cooperate with relevant departments to deal with the cases which involve discrimination against women in employment, disputes over marriage and family property rights, domestic violence or sexual assault against girls, striving to protect women and children and offer them better services.
Shen also called for better work on promoting women's exchanges across the Straits and on deepening reform of women's federations.
