ACWF President Shen Yueyue Meets First Lady of Sri Lanka

Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) and newly-elected President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Shen Yueyue met with Shiranthi Rajapaksa, first lady of Sri Lanka, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on May 29, 2013.

The first lady is currently accompanying her husband, President Mahinda Rajapaksa, on a state visit to China. The two discussed women's and children's issues.

Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Meng Xiaosi also attended the meeting.

Shen spoke highly of Sino-Sri Lankan bilateral relations and the exchanges between women from both countries. She said that she appreciates the contributions of women towards promoting the traditional friendship between China and Sri Lanka and hopes to further deepen the relationship.

Rajapaksa said that she will continue promoting mutual collaborations and cooperation between Chinese and Sri Lankan women.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his wife arrived in China on May 27, 2013, for a four-day official visit under the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
