China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) held a ceremony, in Beijing on March 12, to mark the deliveries of 16 Health Express for Mothers vehicles.
The vehicles were donated by ABC to CWDF's Health Express for Mothers Project. They departed for Heilongjiang, Jilin, Hubei, Hainan and Qinghai provinces, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Xizang Autonomous Region, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). The vehicles will be used to provide medical checkups and treatments, and various healthcare services to pregnant women.
The ABC has donated more than 33 million yuan (US $4.65 million) to CWDF's charitable projects since 2013, and it has provided 146 vehicles for the Health Express for Mothers Project.
The Health Express for Mothers Project was launched in 2003. During the past 22 years, CWDF has donated more than 3,300 health service vehicles to XPCC and 30 provincial-level regions. It has collected and allocated about 500 million yuan (US $70.42 million) to conduct the project.
More than 83 million women have benefited from the project, in terms of free medical consultations, health education, gynecological-disease examinations, vocational training for grassroots doctors and various other services.
