Representatives of Most Beautiful Families Share Their Stories

An activity, as part of the Dreams Set Sail — China's Good Families' Good Family Traditions Lecture Tour, was held at China Railway Group (CRG) on April 19, 2017. Representatives of the most beautiful families (selected during the "Looking for The Most Beautiful Families" campaign initiated by the All-China Women's Federation [ACWF]) from Shanxi, Fujian, Shandong and other provinces, told their families' stories during the activity. Deng Li, Then-Vice-President of the ACWF attended.

Chinese President Xi Jinping in recent years has spoken many times about the importance of family civilization. Xi spoke about the important roles of families in social harmony and the nation's development when he met with the representatives of the national civilized families. He stressed the importance of families, family education and family traditions. He mobilized all segments of society to participate in building family civilization. Activities related to family civilization should cultivate the participants' socialist core values, and promote traditional family virtues and good family traditions, he said.

Deng spoke during the activity. The ACWF, she said, has implemented the "Looking For The Most Beautiful Families" campaign annually since 2014, in keeping with Xi's guidance. Women's Federations, at all levels, have organized colorful activities related to family civilization, including showing families' happiness, discussing family traditions and instructions and telling their most beautiful stories, in enterprises, institutions, universities and communities in urban and rural areas. The activities have helped to promote socialist core values and traditional family virtues. Tens of thousands of families have been selected as the most beautiful families in the past three years. They have set good examples, and their good family traditions have helped establish a good social atmosphere, said Deng.

Representatives of the most beautiful families shared their families' stories. Zhu Fangtai's family began to print their family newspaper in July 1995. Zhu's family has printed 30 issues of the newspaper, and has reported more than 500 stories about the members of the family. Lou Yuewen has written more than 500 letters, with more than 500,000 words, to his family members in the past 20-plus years. The letters are filled with his love. Yuan Zhenhai, an employee at a bureau under CRG, has spent nearly all of his time and energy on railway-construction work in the past 27 years. Sun Hongxiang, Yuan's wife, looks after her paralyzed father-in-law, two orphaned nephews and three mentally challenged uncles- in-law. The participants were touched by the stories of the most beautiful families.
