Handover Ceremonies of CSB, GAAS Donations to ACWF Held in Beijing

A handover ceremony, during which the Commonwealth Society of Beijing (CSB) provided a donation to the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), was held in Beijing on September 7, 2022. On behalf of the ACWF, Mu Hong, Director-General of ACWF's Liaison Department, accepted the donation of 55,000 yuan (US $7,857), and presented a donation certificate to the CSB President Zahra Jidda, also spouse of Nigeria's Ambassador to China, Baba Ahmad Jidda. The donation will be used as living subsidies to support disadvantaged women, children and their families in quake-stricken areas in Luding, a county in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture, in Southwest China's Sichuan Province. Women diplomats who attended the ceremony included the spouse of Sierra Leone's ambassador to China, as well as the spouses of Zambia and Cyprus' diplomats to China.

 

Another handover ceremony was held in Beijing on November 18, 2022, during which the Group of African Ambassadors' Spouses (GAAS) provided 50,000 yuan (US $7,143) to the ACWF. Mu accepted the donation on behalf of the ACWF and presented a donation certificate to Mrs Jidda, also GAAS President. The donation will be used to support the growth of children with special difficulties in Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, in Sichuan. Spouses of diplomats from seven countries — Nigeria, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Benin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Angola — attended.

Mu praised and extended sincere gratitude to CSB and GAAS for their generous donations and deep friendship with Chinese women and people. Mu thanked relevant embassies for the efforts they have made to enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and their respective countries. Mu discussed with the women diplomats various measures to advance communications and cooperation.
