Since ACWF and the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) launched the women's science-popularization campaign in 2023, women's federations and science and technology associations, at all levels, have improved women's science-popularization services at grassroots level, expanded the team of women science-popularization personnel, strengthened the creation of women's science-popularization products, and conducted extensive science-popularization activities to improve the scientific literacy of the public, especially women and children.
The ACWF Publicity Department and China National Museum of Women and Children have conducted activities with the theme "Women's Science Popularization Open Class in Museums." Scientists, doctors and experts, from various fields, have been invited to give lectures.
During the past winter vacation, ACWF Department of Family and Children's Affairs created a series of "Science Popularization Entering Families" short-video courses, and those courses covered manned space flight, China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), other achievements in cutting-edge science and technology, and information related to fire safety, physical and mental health, and various other topics. The courses have allowed parents and their children to embark on interesting and interactive journeys, not only to understand the depth of science and the great spirit of scientists, but also to enjoy pleasant time together as a family.
During summer vacation in 2024, nine women's science-popularization service centers, under the Beijing Women's Association for Science and Technology, organized nearly 100 science-popularization activities. The activities attracted about 220,000 participants offline, and 1.56 million participants online.
To give full play to the leading role of women sci-tech talents in rural revitalization, Guangxi Women's Federation has worked with Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to send women experts in agricultural science and technology to rural areas, and to guide rural women to rely on science and technology to develop industries, and to increase their incomes.
During the past winter vacation, Hefei Women's Federation and Hefei Caring Mother Alliance, in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui Province, organized several activities, which not only deepened the emotional connection between children and their "caring mothers," but also sowed scientific seeds in children's hearts.
Jinan Women's Federation, in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong Province, has worked with local departments and institutions to form women's volunteer teams, and to conduct various volunteer activities.
The Science Popularization Caravan is a mobile science-popularization platform in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, in Southwest China's Yunnan Province. Prior to this year's Spring Festival, the caravan's volunteers visited villages in Mengla County, in the prefecture, where they organized publicity activities to benefit the villagers. The robot dog attracted many of the villagers, which gave them an opportunity to experience the advanced technology of artificial intelligence.
Chongming Women's Federation, in Chongming District, in East China's Shanghai Municipality, in cooperation with municipal government departments and grassroots women's federations, created several scientific-exploration-experiment activities and science-safety-education courses. Through the interesting experiments and interactive teaching, children were able to improve their scientific literacy, and they were able to ignite their scientific dreams.
Women's federations, at all levels, in Gaochun District of Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province, have organized women volunteers to conduct science-popularization activities, and other relevant volunteer services, in villages.
