Gaze up at the clear and beautiful starry sky from the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences located in northeastern Beijing's Miyun District with Xinhua correspondents Shamim Zakaria and Liu Jie, as they explore the Chinese solar term "Xiazhi," or the Summer Solstice.

It is the tenth solar term of a year and the fourth solar term in the summer. It brings the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere. The weather is hot and thunderstorms are frequent.

Farmers are busy with intertillage, wishing for favorable weather and abundant crops. The celestial shift and rhythm of life can be felt.
