'2022 — Together for a Shared Winter Olympics Dream' Exhibition Opens Online

ByYe Shan March 19, 2022

An exhibition entitled "2022 — Together for a Shared Winter Olympics Dream" opened online on January 28, 2022. The exhibits were drawings and/or paintings composed by children and teenagers from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The exhibition was organized by the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission (GNFCC SCO), in collaboration with the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, SCO Secretariat, Uzbekistan SCO People-to-People Exchanges Center and the Russian Culture Center in Beijing.

Focusing on the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the exhibition built a "bridge" to enhance people-to-people exchanges, mutual learning and understanding among SCO countries. The exhibition also helped build a closer community with a shared future for SCO and, therefore, generated positive feedback from SCO countries.

More than 1,200 drawings or paintings collected from 21 SCO countries were displayed during the exhibition. Young painters expressed — via their works of art — their passion for winter sports, their encouragement for athletes, and their sincere wishes for the successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Those works showed the children and youth's longing "for a shared future," and reflected vividly the "Shanghai Spirit" that features "mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity, and pursuit of common development."

Since 2019, the ACWF and the GNFCC SCO have organized three exhibitions of children's art from SCO countries. The exhibitions, held annually, have highlighted the themes of "The World in Children's Eyes," "Unite in Anti-Epidemic Fight and Safeguard Home for All" and "For a Shared Dream." The exhibitions have promoted friendship among SCO countries.
