The CEDAW Committee is a body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the CEDAW Convention. The CEDAW Committee is one of the 10 human rights treaties' agencies under the UN. Established in 1982, the CEDAW Committee is composed of 23 independent experts elected during the meeting of States Parties for each term of four years. The committee is mainly responsible for monitoring States Parties' implementation of the convention, considering relevant periodic reports and providing lists of issues.
