The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) recently has a new group member — the Chinese Nursing Association (CNA).

Founded in 1909, the CNA has a history of 111 years. The CNA is one of seven societies with a history of more than 100 years which are supervised by the China Association for Science and Technology, and it is the only first-level national academic society in the field of nursing.

The association has 44 branches, consisting of 12 working committees and 32 specialized committees. It has more than 140,000 individual members, 99 percent of whom are women.

According to the ACWF's constitution, registered social organizations that serve society and women, composed mainly of women, may become group members of the ACWF or women's federations at various levels with the approval of the corresponding federations after voluntary application.

Since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, more than 340 medical teams across the country have been sent to support the anti-virus battle in Central China's Hubei Province. Of the 28,600 nurses aiding the fight against COVID-10 in Hubei, 25,300 were female, accounting for nearly 90 percent. They have played a dominant role in the anti-epidemic battle.
