Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended a symposium with representatives of the women's federations at all levels in Southwest China's Yunnan Province on July 6, to study the spirit of the important speeches on poverty alleviation delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The participants also discussed how to unite and lead women to contribute to winning the battle against poverty.
Shen urged that the women's federations at all levels should lead women to work hard, create a better life with their own efforts and focus on quality in winning the battle against poverty, ensuring that no impoverished woman is left behind in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

The women's federations at all levels were required to implement the Women's Action for Poverty Alleviation, support the stable development of women's poverty-alleviation factories, workshops and demonstration bases and combine traditional handicrafts with modern business management, helping impoverished women get jobs in places close to their homes and become rich through their craft-making skills.
Shen also noted that great attention should be given to women and children in the areas with extreme poverty, especially disabled women, impoverished single mothers and women who fell into poverty due to COVID-19, diseases or the recent flood disasters, and greater efforts should be made to alleviate poverty through education and healthcare.
Shen emphasized that efforts should be made to combine the tasks of ensuring stability in employment, financial operations, foreign trade, foreign investment, domestic investment, and expectations and
ensuring security in job, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy security, stable industrial and supply chains, and the normal functioning of primary-level governments, as well as rural revitalization, with winning the battle against poverty.
Shen called for advancing the activity of looking for the most beautiful family, giving full play to the role of family and family education and traditions in social governance, and facilitating the social etiquette and civility, and the transformation of outmoded habit and custom in rural areas.
Some of the participants of the symposium shared their measures on lifting impoverished women out of poverty, including implementing the Women's Action for Poverty Alleviation, promoting the relocation in areas with extreme poverty, improving women's comprehensive qualities, cultivating healthy living habits and building service platforms of entrepreneurship and innovation.
