A ceremony was held in Havana, capital of Cuba, on January 31, 2023, during which the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) donated goods to the Workers Central Union of Cuba (CTC) and the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC). The donated items included office products and medical supplies for epidemic prevention.
Ulises Guilarte, General Secretary of the CTC, expressed gratitude for the donations. Guilarte said the donations proved China and Cuba have traditionally friendly relations, and the donations will help CTC modernize its information equipment.
People's organizations in Cuba and China have supported each other and have maintained solidarity and friendship. The goods donated by China will benefit people's organizations at all levels, and will help Cuba better serve its people and safeguard the rights and interests of workers and women, Guilarte added.
During an interview with Xinhua, Osmayda Hernández, Member of the Secretariat of FMC, said the donations from China will help improve the quality of Cuban women and their families' lives.
Ma Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, said people's organizations, including trade-union federations and women's federations in China and Cuba, have long maintained multiform and in-depth communications and cooperation, which have enriched bilateral relations and strengthened friendship between the countries.
The ACFTU and the ACWF donated goods from a long distance away, reflecting intimate relations among people's organizations and the special friendship between China and Cuba. Ma said China is willing to enhance mechanized exchanges with Cuban people's organizations and deepen mutual learning and sharing of good practices. By so doing, Ma added, the development of China-Cuba relations will be further advanced.
