Huang Meets Jinguo Committee Delegation

At the invitation of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), a delegation of the Jinguo Committee, from the United States, visited Beijing and Fujian Province in Southeast China from March 27-31, 2023. The delegation was headed by Zhang Sujiu, founding President of the Jinguo Committee (a renowned women's organization in Los Angeles, the United States), and the youngest daughter of General Zhang Zhizhong (a patriotic army leader in China's history).

Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, met the delegation, and brief them on the fruitful results of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and this year's two sessions. Huang explained the significance of the Chinese path to modernization, to both China and the world, and outlined the historic progress reached in Chinese women and children's undertakings during the first decade of the new era.

Huang said the election of the CPC Central Committee's new leadership, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, was the most important achievement of the 20th CPC National Congress. Xi, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, was unanimously re-elected as Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China. Xi's re-election reflected the common will and aspirations of Chinese of all ethnic groups.

The report to the 20th CPC National Congress marked the third time that "remain committed to the fundamental national policy of gender equality and protect the lawful rights and interests of women and children" was written into a report to the Party's national congress, Huang noted. This revealed the great importance Xi and the CPC Central Committee attach to women's cause.

On the occasion of this year's International Women's Day, Xi extended again his festive greetings to women from all ethnic groups and all walks of life, giving women and women's federations warmth and encouragement.

Huang quoted Xi's speech to the Seventh Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations (held in June 2014), saying, "For Chinese people both at home and abroad, a united Chinese nation is our shared root, the profound Chinese culture is our shared soul, and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is our shared dream."

Huang spoke of Jinguo Committee's efforts to advance people-to-people friendship between China and the US, and to inherit the profound traditional Chinese culture. She hoped that overseas Chinese women would continue playing their roles as folk envoys who promote friendly exchanges, spread traditional Chinese culture and make contributions to the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

Zhang said overseas Chinese pay great attention to China's development in all fields. It has never been an easy task for the CPC and the Chinese Government to adhere to the people-first principle, implement targeted poverty-alleviation measures, lead 1.4 billion Chinese in shaking off poverty, comprehensively build a well-off society, and reach the first Centenary Goal. All of those achievements have once again proved the advantages of China's socialist system, she added.

Zhang also praised the progress made in Chinese women and children's development in the new era, and the remarkable achievements in China's family building, family education and family virtues. Jinguo Committee, she added, is willing to build a platform to enhance exchanges and cooperation between women in China and the US, promote mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries, and unite overseas Chinese, including women, to make contributions to the realization of the Chinese Dream.
