Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, met Svetlana Orlova, President of the Russian side of the Women's Council of China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development (CRFCPD), and Auditor of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, in Beijing on December 1.

Under the strategic leadership of State leaders of the two countries, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era has maintained high-level development, Huang said. Women's exchanges represent an important component of China-Russia people-to-people exchanges; therefore, Huang called on women to take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the China-Russia Cultural Year (in 2024 and 2025) to make efforts to advance the joint, high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, and also the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Huang outlined the 13th National Women's Congress of China. She said Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, attended the congress' opening and delivered an important speech during a talk with ACWF's new leadership (in late October). Xi stressed women's irreplaceable role in fully building China into a strong country and achieving national rejuvenation through a Chinese path to modernization. Numerous women and workers in women's affairs were greatly inspired and encouraged by Xi's important speech, Huang added.

Huang also introduced Xi's discourses on the work related to women and children as well as the work of women's federations and Xi's discourses on the importance of family, family education and virtues. She talked about the historic progress reached in the cause of Chinese women in the new era and in ACWF's major work. In particular, she mentioned the Spring Bud Project, which won the 2023 UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Prize for Girls' and Women's Education.

Huang and Orlova had an in-depth discussion about women's communications and cooperation to be conducted in the future.

Orlova spoke positively of the countries' relationship. She praised the historic progress in Chinese women and children's development, and she expressed her willingness to strengthen cooperation with the ACWF to promote Russia-China people's friendship and women's development.

Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Irina Viner, President of the Russian side of CRFCPD's Healthy Lifestyle Council, and also President of the All-Russia Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, attended. Orlova and other Russian delegates visited China to attend CRFCPD's 14th plenary session.
