Huang Xiaowei, Vice President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Vice Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, led a delegation to attend the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum and the BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Women's Affairs, under the forum's framework, in Russia from September 17 to 20, 2024.
Huang outlined the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and she detailed China's achievements in pursuing Chinese modernization. She introduced General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping's discourses on the work related to women and children as well as the work of women's federations, and Xi's discourses on the importance of family, family education and virtues.
Huang also outlined the achievements gained by Chinese women in various fields, including the economy, health, education, and decision-making management, by presenting detailed statistics and vivid cases. In particular, she mentioned the Spring Bud Project, which received the 2023 UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Prize for Girls' and Women's Education. Huang urged relevant parties to deepen women's exchanges to contribute to the building of a human community with a shared future.
Participants spoke highly of China's historical achievements in women's development, and many noted China's experiences have benefited the rest of the world. Many also said they should strengthen unity and cooperation to promote global women's development.
During the forum, Huang and her delegation met Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council. Huang also spoke with Svetlana Orlova, President of the Russian side of the Women's Council of China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development (CRFCPD), Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, and Anna Tsivileva, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation. Huang had in-depth discussions with Russian women from various sectors, including industry and commerce, finance, science and technology, health, and sports.
Huang said, under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, women's exchanges between the countries have deepened and experienced innovative development, and the women's exchanges have become a symbol of China-Russia friendship. She outlined ACWF's efforts under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, to advance "five projects" for women's development, and to unite and guide Chinese women in achieving new progress in the new era.
The Russian side noted the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was a major event, which drew the attention of the world, and has had a profound influence on both China's development and global economic recovery. They said Russia is ready to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and to push China-Russia relations to a new level.
