Guangzhou Women's Federation on September 1 held a ceremony to announce the federation will provide lectures to girls (aged between 5-17) and their parents, to help the girls better protect themselves against sexual assault.
The event was held in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province. The federation invited psychologists, sociologists and legal experts to develop the lectures and practical teaching toolkits, to help girls better protect their safety.
On the same day, organizers provided training to the members of the first volunteer lecturers' group, so they could better teach children and/or their parents how to improve the children's ability to protect their rights and interests. The members were lawyers, judges, psychologists, educators, social workers, and workers with women's federations, at all levels across Guangzhou.
Many of the trainees said they benefited greatly from the training. They vowed to make greater efforts to help children better protect their rights and interests.
A cadre of the federation recently told media the organization plans to conduct various activities, to help children improve their ability to protect their rights and interests. The cadre also said the lecturers will help children and their parents raise their awareness of the importance of protecting children against sexual assault.
