Public Welfare Project Sends Caring and Warmth to Disadvantaged Women and Children in Guangxi

 December 20, 2023

The China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) launched the 2024 "Bringing Love Back Home" series of public welfare activities in collaboration with Guangxi Women's Federation on December 14-15, to provide tangible assistance to disadvantaged women and children in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The 2024 "Bringing Love Back Home: Postal Parcels for Mothers" Spring Festival Care-Giving public welfare activity took place in Baini, a village in Xinhua Town of Leye County, in Baise, and in Minzu, a village in Baishan Town of Mashan County, in Nanning. Representatives of disadvantaged women received donated parcels loaded with daily necessities from women's federations, warmhearted individuals and/or enterprises from society, as well as charitable supplies from the Textile Vision Science and Education Foundation.

Local women expressed their gratitude to donors through folk songs and "a letter from home." They vowed to create a better life through hard work and to reward social assistance with practical actions.

The CWDF donated 200,000 yuan (US $27,778) to Guangxi under the "Women's Reproductive Health Insurance Plan" project, with 5,000 yuan (US $694) for each among 40 disadvantaged women diagnosed with cancers.

During a visit to the primary school of Xieli, a village in Xinhua Town, disadvantaged children and left-behind children, whose parents left their hometown to earn a living in other places, were provided with down coats. The children were encouraged to study hard, strive for self-reliance and do their best to be the new generation who shoulders the responsibilities of fulfilling national rejuvenation.

During another charitable visit with the theme "Dating with the Genius Mom," participants went to an ethnic Zhuang embroidery workshop, in Mashan County. They appreciated the beauty of the handicrafts and learned about the workshop's development and its role in helping promote women's entrepreneurship and employment.

A Shanghai-based cosmetics company has provided assistance to the Zhuang embroidery workshop in a drive to empower disadvantaged women in the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage, and to help advance rural revitalization.

The Postal Parcels for Mothers Project has been carried out in Guangxi for 12 years. Under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the CWDF, Guangxi Women's Federation has raised donations worth 23.43 million yuan (US $3.25 million) and distributed postal parcels to over 60,000 disadvantaged women in 111 county-level areas across the autonomous region.

During the 2023 "99 Charity Day," the Postal Parcels for Mothers Project collected public donation of nearly 3.55 million yuan (US $493,056) in Guangxi.
