Qinghai Women's Federation launched a parent-child painting exhibition, titled Children on the Plateau Love Green, in Qinghai Library, on International Children's Day (June 1). The exhibition featured more than 120 paintings and 100 handicrafts, created by kindergarten children and their parents.
The paintings highlighted the beauty of the landscapes and cultures of Northwest China's Qinghai Province, in the children's eyes, to help visitors increase their awareness of the significance of protecting the ecological environment.
Through their paintings, the children presented local specialty foods, the magnificence of Qinghai Lake, and yaks, antelopes and Mongolian yurts on the meadows to artistically present the harmonious co-existence of humans and nature.
With their paintbrushes, they depicted their respect for nature, their love for their homeland, and their longing for a good life.
During the exhibition, the children participated in an eco-friendly fashion show, to display their creations, made from recycled materials, such as bubble wraps and woven and plastic bags. The clothes and accessories, transformed from waste items, acted as the ideal carriers for the children to both promote and practice the idea of environmental protection.
During recent years, the women's federation has promoted the inclusion of ecological-civilization education into the curriculum of its affiliated kindergarten. Colorful activities, including parent-child painting and craft-making sessions, have been organized, to publicize the concept of ecological protection among the children and their families.
The families have been urged to cherish natural resources, live low-carbon, environmentally friendly lifestyles, and participate in advancing ecological progress.
In the future, Qinghai will continue to advance ecological-civilization education, and it will motivate more people to practice the ideas of ecological civilization, and to help protect their beautiful homeland.
