A conference to promote the Women's Action for Rural Revitalization campaign was held September 25-26 in Panjin, a city in Northeast China's Liaoning Province.
The conference was aimed at s tudying and implementing the guiding principles of instructions by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on the seventh Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival (September 22).
The key tasks of work related to women in rural areas, under new circumstances, and how to complete the tasks through reform and innovative measures were determined during the conference.
During the conference, representatives from Liaoning Women's Federation, and 10 other organizations, shared their good experiences in conducting the campaign. The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) released the logo for the Beautiful Courtyards initiative. China Women's Development Foundation launched a project to support new women farmers.
Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of ACWF, urged women's federations, at all levels, to focus on helping improve the systems and mechanisms that promote integrated development of urban and rural areas. With comprehensively deepening reform as their driving force, the federations should strengthen their efforts to conduct the Women's Action for Rural Revitalization campaign.
Huang also urged the federations to improve the rural women talents cultivation mechanism, and to develop industrial clusters that boast women's characteristics. She called on the federations to explore new social-governance approaches, based on collaboration, participation and the common interests of rural women, and she emphasized the Party's overall leadership over the work.
During recent years, women's federations, at all levels, have trained 17 million rural women, and they have provided scientific and technological services to 48 million rural people. The campaign has helped develop more than 290,000 cooperatives, family farms and/or homestays, and it has selected more than 28 million households with "beautiful courtyards," and 14.84 million "most beautiful families" (at all levels).
