Xiamen Women's Federation, in Southeast China's Fujian Province, provided volunteer services in January, to serve the women who remained on their jobs during the New Year and Spring Festival holidays.
Zhuang Haiying, President of Xiamen Women's Federation, led the federation's staff during a visit to a Blue Sky Rescue training base, in Siming District, Xiamen, on January 17. The federation extended New Year's greetings, and delivered 50 packages of supplies, to women members of the rescue team. The rescue team is headed by Chen Suzhen, a National March 8th Red-Banner Holder. The team had just finished rescue missions in quake-ravaged areas of Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
The federation also visited Xiamen Domestic Service Association and an express-delivery company, to send New Year's gift packages, and red scarves, to domestic-service workers and women delivery workers. The federation also popped into various companies, Xiamen Air service base, Xiamen Railway Station, and several of the city's subway stations and cruise terminals, to extend greetings and deliver gifts to women who remained on their jobs during the holidays.
Employees of women's federations of various institutions, including Xiamen General Assembly of Social Organizations, sent gift packages to women working in new types of economic and social organizations, and to women in new forms of employment.
In addition, Xiamen Women's Federation provided 5,400 gift packages to women working on major urban projects, and to women in various fields, including environmental sanitation, public transportation, medical services, emergency rescue, domestic services, and culture and tourism. Gift packages were also delivered to women scientists, women in new forms of employment, women volunteers, and women compatriots from Taiwan who live in Xiamen.
