In the Report on the Work of the Government, it was mentioned "efforts will be made to upgrade elderly and child care, housekeeping and other services and make them more accessible, and support will be given to private entities providing community services."
Zhuo Changli has been a witness to the development of the housekeeping industry in China. As an deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and general manager of Jinan Sunshine Sisters Service Co., Ltd., in Jinan, East China's Shandong Province, Zhuo has made dozens of proposals — related to housekeeping and care of children and the elderly — during past and current NPC sessions.
This year, Zhuo's suggestions focused on promoting high-quality development of the domestic industry, including protecting the rights and interests of domestic workers, improving the home-based, elder-care service system, advancing the upgrading and digital transformation of the domestic industry, strengthening vocational education on domestic services, and cultivating high-quality housekeeping professionals.
Zhuo stressed high-quality development of the domestic industry requires support from the science and technology sector. She suggested housekeeping enterprises need to do a better job integrating online and offline community services, to meet people's needs for convenient, diversified and high-quality housekeeping services.
"Housekeeping is a sunrise industry, and it plays a significant role in providing jobs to migrant workers, while also catering to the needs of urban families, especially regarding child and elder care. Every domestic worker is like my family member, and I want to pass on love to them, so they can work decently and live happily," Zhuo said.
