Huang Liping, a CPPCC National Committee member, is deputy head of Wenluo, a town in Lingshui Li Autonomous County, in South China's Hainan Province. She is also secretary of the general Party (Communist Party of China) branch of Wuxing, a village in Wenluo. 

In 1998, Huang and her husband returned to the village to start their business. Since then, the couple has led farmers in planting tropical fruits and vegetables, and such efforts have brought prosperity to the locals. 

Huang has witnessed the great changes that have taken place in her village. In the past, many of the locals migrated to other areas of China to look for work. That left the village "sleepy." Now, almost every household grows high-quality agricultural products, which greatly increases their incomes. Many young people are running shops or family hotels in the village. They have brought the village back to life. 

Now, the village often holds fun activities during festivals, such as square-dance performances and basketball games. What's more, local women attach greater importance to educating their children. They buy children's books, and they spend time reading with their children. 

The return of the "new farmers" has driven the development of the region, and the "new farmers" have changed the mindsets of the villagers. Meanwhile, more young people are being encouraged to return home, given the positive changes that have taken place in their hometowns. 

"The promotion of rural revitalization cannot happen without the support of talents, who master advanced agricultural technology. The integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism has facilitated rural revitalization, which will attract more young talents to return to their hometowns," said Huang. 

In recent years, she has focused her research on expanding rural industries, boosting rural tourism, and developing cultural experiences. Why? She wants to help "new farmers" become the driving force behind rural revitalization.
