Shenzhen Host 2024 Summer Training Session of Spring Bud Dream Chorus

 August 29, 2024

The 2024 summer training session for outstanding members and teachers of the Spring Bud Dream Chorus, hosted by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and Tencent Charity Foundation and organized by Tengxing Culture and Arts Exchange Service Center, was held in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province from July 23 to 27.

A CCTF's representative addressed the opening ceremony of the event via video link, Yang Qinhuan, Party branch secretary and assistant secretary-general of Tencent Charity Foundation, and Feng Hai, head of the Spring Bud Dream Chorus (Shenzhen), attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

The event was attended by 20 Spring Bud girls and 17 teachers from 15 schools in nine provincial regions. They belong to various ethnic groups such as the Han, Miao, Uygur, Tibet and Yao. The girls attended basic music literacy classes and took part in chorus rehearsals. The teachers received professional training on conducting skills, children's chorus and music theories.

They also paid a visit to Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, to learn more about Guangdong's reform and opening-up progress.

The intensive training helped Spring Bud girls grasp fundamental chorus knowledge. They delivered two pieces of chorus performance at the closing ceremony, showcasing their learning results in the past few days. Meanwhile, the teachers incorporated what they had acquired into their chorus performance at the closing ceremony.

"The training has allowed me to build friendship with many attendees from across the country, who share common interests in singing. I joined the Spring Bud Dream Chorus in my school because I like singing. During the fulfilling study tour in Shenzhen, we got together to improve music literacy and take part in chorus rehearsals. I think everyone should have a dream and that is why the dream chorus was founded," said a Spring Bud girl from the No.1 Primary School in Guangdong's Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County.

"At the beginning, I wasn't very confident. I have acquired lots of professional knowledge and improved my professional competence through the intensive training. I am looking forward to further strengthening the building of the Spring Bud Dream Chorus in my school and make its voice heard nationwide," said a primary school teacher from Kangding of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Southwest China's Sichuan Province.

As an integral component of the Spring Bud Project, the Spring Bud Dream Chorus project is an important carrier to respond to the Spring Bud Project — Dream of Future Action, improve girls' comprehensive quality and strengthen guidance through aesthetic education.

The Spring Bud Dream Chorus project is mainly designed to discover girls' singing talent, lead and guide them to better appreciate music and grow up with music, and help them seek self-enlightenment and pursue dreams through the organization of singing training and cultural exchanges.

As of July 2024, the project had set up 33 chorus teams in 22 provincial regions across the country. Since its establishment in June 2023, the Tencent Spring Bud Dream-Building Fund has supported the building of 21 chorus teams in 11 provincial regions, which draw the participation of over 1,000 girls and over 50 teachers.
