A donation ceremony of the 2024 Heng'ai Action was jointly held by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and Shanghai-based wool manufacturer Hengyuanxiang Group in Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on December 5.
At the ceremony, Hengyuanxiang Group donated funds and goods worth more than 11.24 million yuan (US $1.58 million) to the CCTF. President of the CCTF Cong Zhongxiao received the donation on behalf of the CCTF and presented donation certificate to Hengyuanxiang Group.
Cong said that during the past 19 years, the Heng'ai Action public welfare initiative has been committed to sending handknit sweaters to children in border areas with large ethnic minority populations as well as other children living in difficulties. She hoped that the working committee on women in central authorities, the women's federations at all levels, and the CCTF will work together to make full use of the public welfare project to deliver more tangible benefits to children and families in border areas with large ethnic minority populations, and further enhance their sense of fulfillment, happiness and security.
Li Linghui, Vice-President of Xinjiang Women's Federation, said that the Heng'ai Action has distributed over 310,000 sweaters to in-need children in Xinjiang and built a bridge of love and communication between families of various ethnic groups in Xinjiang and those from other parts of China.
Chen Zhongwei, President and General Manager of Hengyuanxiang Group, said that the Heng'ai Action has further strengthened the bond and connection between families in Xinjiang and other provinces, and contributed to nurturing a new generation of young people with moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility and work skills for the socialist cause.
At the ceremony, representatives of caring mothers talked about their stories with the charitable project. The Spring Bud Chorus from No.5 Primary School in Changji City of Xinjiang presented a song titled Me and My Country.
The CCTF and Hengyuanxiang Group jointly launched the Heng'ai Action under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation in 2005. So far, Hengyuanxiang Group has donated about 435,000 kilograms of wool and funds and goods worth 135 million yuan (US $19 million) to the action, mobilized over one million families across China to take part in the knitting of sweaters, and sent about 1.45 million handknit sweaters to children in Xinjiang.
