Spring Bud Girls Attend Study Tour in Kunming

The China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) kicked off a study tour under the 2025 Spring Bud — Aerospace Dream Project in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan Province, on April 24 to celebrate the 10th Space Day of China.

The two-day study tour drew the attendance of 36 Spring Bud girls from four middle schools of Fuyuan, a county in Yunnan.

The event brought them to Kunming Aerospace Science Museum, Yunnan University and Yunnan Provincial Museum.

During the visit to Kunming Aerospace Science Museum, the girls gained aviation and aerospace knowledge through various objects, models, videos, spacecrafts and VR experience of flying in space, listened to the stories of late Chinese aerospace pioneer Qian Xuesen, and acquired knowledge about manmade satellites. They experienced the charm of aviation and aerospace and planted a seed of loving science and the space in their hearts.

Afterward, they came to the History Museum at Yunnan University, where tour guides briefed them about the university's development history and introduced to them precious historical photos and other exhibits in a move to help them better understand the university's motto. The astronomical optical telescope at the observatory left a deep impression on them and stimulated their interest in astronomy and physics. The amazing technology and the magnificent starry sky inspired them to explore the mysteries of the universe.

Yunnan Provincial Museum comprises several parallel exhibition zones such as "Ancient Yunnan" and "Bronze Civilization," which have underscored historical development cultural progress and the greatness of ancestors. Students marveled at its rich collection of cultural relics, using their pens to write down historical stories behind these relics and gaining cultural confidence as well as national pride.

The study tour was a happy and dream-building journey for the girls because they not only acquired knowledge but also expanded personal horizon, stimulated scientific interest and firmed up will in serving the country with sci-tech endeavors.

"During this tour, we have gained knowledge, experienced growth and built friendship. As youth of the new era, we should study hard, strive to be successors of China's aerospace industry, and contribute to the cause of Chinese aerospace," said Li Zihan, who comes from Fuyuan No.7 Middle School.

The project was launched by the CCTF and the CASIC in 2022 to further promote the implementation of the Spring Bud Project — Dream of Future Action initiative. Since then, it has built 36 service stations, conducted over 200 activities in relation to sci-tech education, adolescent health and mental health education, organized diverse study tours, invited girls to visit aerospace institutions and communicate with women science and technological workers, and rolled out the Technology Illuminates Her Dream — Aerospace Dream Women's Action.

The project has benefited approximately 100,000 girls and families, ensured the access of girls to fair, inclusive and quality education in the implementation areas, enhanced their sci-tech literacy, and nurtured women technological workers for rural revitalization.
