由全国妇联组织的全国“三八”红旗手（集体）评比表彰活动，迄今已有几十年历史，其表彰对象均是各个时期为国家建设做出杰出贡献的先进妇女典型，是全国专项表彰妇女先进人物的最高荣誉。自1960年以来，全国已经有2万多名优秀女性和多个先进集体获此殊荣。

The past year saw China making impressive changes and great progress in promoting gender equality and protecting women’s legal rights and interests. Now, at the beginning of 2014, Women of China website lists the top 10 women’s news or gender-related events that sparked some of China’s fiercest public debates and also marked some of the most significant advancements to date.

The National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetters and Collectives awards were launched by the All-China Women's Federation in 1960. The awards recognize exemplary workers or collectives who have made extraordinary achievements in their work.

The National Women's Congress of China (NWCC) is opening this fall. We are providing full coverage of the national event, including its agenda, news, representatives and ACWF's work achievements and contributions over the past five years.

In old China, women were for a long time kept at the bottom of society. It was not until the first half of this century that the Chinese Communist Party led the Chinese people to wage a great and profound national democratic revolution on this ancient land. At the same time, a large-scale women's emancipation movement was launched, resulting in the historic liberation of Chinese women which won worldwide attention.

September 15 saw the opening in Rome, Italy, of the Chinese Women's Culture Week and the Sino-Italian Women's Forum, as part of the Chinese Culture Year in Italy. This is the first-ever Sino-Italian women's exchange event jointly hosted by the All-China Women's Federation and the Italian Ministry for Equal Opportunities.
