China's netizens were recently outraged by news of a middle-aged mother breaking down in front of an Apple store because her college student daughter had demanded a 'three-piece' - an iPhone, iPad and Macbook. The daughter was about to attend college in another city and they were at the store to buy her some new equipment.
"The daughter made it clear that she wanted the newest iPhone, iPad and Macbook," the store clerk said. "It would have cost over 20,000 yuan (US$ 3,150)."
When the mother protested that they could not afford it, the daughter yelled that if she did not get these newest gadgets, she would 'lose face' at college. Then she stomped off, causing her mother to burst into tears. >>more
