National Lawmakers Propose to Set up Long-Term Mechanism for Community-Based Health Management
Deputies to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) have paid close attention to the prevention and control of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and stressed the establishment of a long-term mechanism conducive to community-based health management since the COVID-19 broke out in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei Province, in January.
Many community workers have worked hard to ensure the safety of the people and built a strong defensive line against the COVID-19 over the past months. Residential communities have played a key role in the prevention and control of the contagious virus and the maintenance of social order under special conditions.
Li Xiuxiang, an NPC deputy and director of the Research Center for Trade and Environment at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, called for greater efforts to strengthen the administration of social affairs in residential communities in a bid to improve performance in the prevention and control of COVID-19.
In a motion made to the top Chinese legislature, Li urged relevant government departments to speed up their efforts to build a mechanism to ensure that all resources can be linked and synergized and supply of anti-virus materials in residential communities can be guaranteed.
In addition, she also proposed making a scientific allocation of human resources, further raising the salaries of community workers and authorizing them to conduct home visits if necessary.
Meanwhile, Yu Mei, another NPC deputy and secretary of the Party branch of Lishuyuan Community of Xincun Sub-district in Jingdezhen, a city in East China's Jiangxi Province, suggested promulgation of an emergency management regulation concerning residential communities.
Yu noted that property management firms should be rewarded or compensated in a proper manner for their allocation of human resources and materials and emergency requisition of their belongings. At the same time, they should set up a mechanism for liaison with residential communities and conduct regular training sessions for their employees.
