Publisher: Central Compilation & Translation Press |
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, faced with a grave and complex international landscape and unprecedented external risks and challenges, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has taken into account both domestic and international imperatives and conducted strategic planning for major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. China has broken new ground in its diplomatic endeavors amid profound global changes and turned crises into opportunities amid complex situations on the international stage. These efforts have resulted in a marked increase in China's international influence, appeal, and capacity to shape.
As the architect of China's major-country diplomacy, President Xi Jinping has engaged in intensive diplomatic activities at the head-of-state level, with a view to humanity's historical progress, thus demonstrating global vision and a strong sense of responsibility as the leader of a major country. In speeches and remarks on international occasions, President Xi has proposed a series of new ideas, propositions, and initiatives for guiding the development and progress of humanity, all of which are imbued with unique Chinese features and a contemporary spirit. These efforts have helped increase understanding and support for China's development among the international community, consolidated broad consensus on cooperation with China, and provided strategic guidance for the development of China's relations with other countries in the new era.
These new ideas, propositions, and initiatives primarily comprise Xi Jinping's thinking on diplomacy and represent an important part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They are of great significance for comprehensively advancing and refining China's diplomatic agenda at all levels and in all areas, actively developing global partnerships, and fostering a new type of international relations. They are vital for efforts to build a human community with a shared future and champion the shared human values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom. They are also important for creating more favorable conditions for China's endeavors to build a great modern socialist country in all respects and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
To help readers in and outside of China gain a deeper understanding of President Xi's major diplomatic statements, this book series (volume I & II) presents 136 texts, including speeches, remarks, and addresses delivered by Xi Jinping on important international occasions between March 2013 and November 2021.
