On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) organized visits to outstanding women who have contributed to the cause of revolution, construction and reform in China.
On September 20, Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the ACWF, and Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Group of the ACWF and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, visited Wang Dingguo, the oldest Red Army veteran, Tu Youyou, winner of China's Medal of the Republic, and Zhang Miman, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to pay their respects to them.
When visiting Wang at Beijing Hospital, Shen gave her a book on the achievements of New China over the past 70 years, and said our happy life today was attributable to the efforts and sacrifice of revolutionary predecessors such as her.
"We will remain true to our original aspiration, keep our mission in mind, and inherit the spirit of the Long March to strive for success in the new era," Shen added.
Shen went on to congratulate Tu on winning the Medal of the Republic, praising her as an outstanding contributor of the PRC, a role model for the people and the pride of women.

Shen wished Tu good health, saying she hoped Tu would continue to innovate in science and technology and contribute more to human health.
At the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shen reviewed the achievements the Communist Party of China has made in the women's cause over the past 70 years with academician Zhang Miman.

The country has provided a good environment and opportunities for female science and technology workers, said Zhang. After learning she still insisted on working every day after retirement, Shen thanked her for her contribution to the research work and said she set an example for women scientists in working hard and pursuing dreams. Shen hoped she would train more young scientists and work together to construct a powerful nation of science and technology.
Other women's federations at provincial and municipal levels also organized visits to outstanding women who have made contributions to the establishment, construction and development of the PRC.
