The 1st SCO Forum on Women

At the Astana Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held in June, 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping made a five-point proposal on the development of the SCO, namely "strengthening solidarity and coordination, joining hands to tackle challenges, deepening practical cooperation, enhancing people-to-people bonds, and upholding openness and inclusiveness", and announced that China would host the SCO Summit in June, 2018. Given China's position as the rotating presidency of the SCO, President Xi proposed a series of important initiatives and measures, including hosting the SCO Women's Forum.

With the view to deepening exchanges and cooperation of related SCO countries in the area of women, and enriching people-to-people and cultural cooperation, the All China Women's Federation will host the 1st SCO Forum on Women in Beijing on May 16th and 17th, 2018, with the theme of "Pooling Strength of Women for Common Development". Representatives of SCO countries and international organizations will be invited to conduct dialogues on the topics of "women and innovation", "women in a beautiful world", and "women for mutually-beneficial cooperation". 

The 1st SCO Forum on Women has got support from the SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov. We believe with the joint efforts of all sides, the Forum will become an effective platform for pooling wisdom of women, sharing development lessons, and discussing for mutually beneficial cooperation, and make fresh contribution to promoting the development of the SCO and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
