Women and Mutually Beneficial Cooperation

 May 2, 2018

At present, the world politics and economy are undergoing profound changes. Interconnection and interdependence among countries are reinforcing. It is a general trend to promote the reform of the global governance system based on the core concept of shared growth through consultation and collaboration, to make the international political and economic order more just and equitable, and to build a community of shared future for mankind. This is also a prerequisite for meeting global challenges and for achieving sustainable development.

In the 16 years after the establishment of the SCO, its Member States have firmly adhered to the "Shanghai spirit" of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diverse civilizations and pursuit of shared development. They encouraged cooperation in the fields of security, economy and humanities, maintained regional security and stability, promoted shared development and prosperity, and forged a new model of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation. Women, creators of material and spiritual civilization, are an essential force to facilitate social development and progress. Therefore, strengthening the mutually beneficial cooperation among women will make a greater contribution to the building of a community of shared future within the SCO. It will also make the environment more favorable for survival and development of women themselves and help women enjoy the fruits of economic and social development on an equal footing.  The SCO Women's Forum will, on the basis of the "Shanghai spirit", make a positive contribution to the promotion of the mobility of people and technology among women, to the deepening of resources and opportunities sharing, and to the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation characterized by harmony within diversity, inclusiveness, and deep integration.

Under this topic, we look forward to reviewing women's practical experience of people-to-people exchanges,  planning the development jointly, further addressing the interests and concerns of all parties, and exploring the possibilities of regularly organising SCO Women's Forums in Member States by proposing feasibility plans. In this way we’ll be able to make proposals on achieving pioneering, constructive and sustainable results for mutually beneficial cooperation among women under the SCO framework.
