Shen Yueyue Meets Officials from Uzbekistan, Cambodia
Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbaeva and Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of the Women's Affairs of Cambodia, in Beijing on May 16, respectively.
When meeting with Narbaeva, Shen thanked her for heading the high-level delegation to attend the First Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Forum on Women, and thanked the Uzbekistan government, parliament and Narbaeva herself for attaching great importance to the bilateral relations and women's exchanges under the framework of the SCO.
She pointed out that China-Uzbekistan relations have achieved a leap-forward in development, since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992 and comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust for mutual benefit.
In May 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev agreed during their meeting to carry on China-Uzbek friendship from generation to generation and improve the two countries' ties to benefit the people.
Shen added that she hoped that Chinese and Uzbek government would implement the consensus reached by the heads of States, and, according to the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen the communication and cooperation on women's affairs. She said women of the two countries should make contributions to the friendship between Chinese and Uzbek people, and the common development of women from SCO countries with their wisdom and strength.
When meeting with Ing Kantha Phavi, Shen thanked the Cambodian parliment and government leaders for their great attention to China-Cambodia ties and their warm reception during her latest visit to Cambodia, and evaluated the development of the bilateral relations and women’s exchange.
China and Cambodia have a long history of friendship. Cambodia is a friendly neighbor and important partner of China, said Shen. China will cooperate closely with Cambodia to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen cooperation in women's affairs, and enrich the connotations of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
Shen said she hoped that women in both countries would strengthen their communication, learn from each other, and work together to promote women's development in the two countries. She hoped they would make unremitting efforts to promote the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative and ensure the people's welfare and prosperity and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as forging a community of common destiny and shared interests with neighbors.
During the meetings, Shen also introduced to the guests the achievements that Chinese women have made under the leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.
Both Narbaeva and Ing Kantha Phavi spoke highly of China’s achievements in various fields. They said that women in their countries would like to strengthen friendly exchanges with Chinese women and the countries would deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation with China.
Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, attended the meetings.
