A painter from the rural areas of Southwest China's Guizhou Province has been working on peasant paintings to speak highly of and support the enormous efforts of medical personnel on the frontline of combating the novel coronavirus.

Yang Hui, formerly a farmer, is now a painter with the Academy of Farmer Painters in Dafang County of Bijie City in Guizhou Province.

Yang explained that peasant paintings have been very popular among local people in Dafang, and she hopes to reflect the great contributions of medical staff on the frontline with her paintings.

To that end, Yang started her paintings on January 31. As of February 2, she had completed her first two pieces.

The first paining, titled Overcome the Critical Moment with United Strength, was a painting of four hands which represents government staff members, medical workers, people of the Yi ethnic group and people of the Miao ethnic group respectively. It depicts the concerted efforts made by all Chinese people in winning the battle against the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

Yang also portrayed the quick response of police officers and medical workers to the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in another painting.

Yang said that she will continue to draw more paintings and mobilize more people to follow her lead in the portrait of medical workers on the frontline in the coming days.
