Women entrepreneurs of China's Taiwan with investment in the Chinese mainland have expressed deep sympathy and made substantial donations of money as well as medical materials to their epidemic-affected peers in Central China's Hubei Province and the entire country in the battle against the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) since the onset of the outbreak in Wuhan.
Actress Ting Chang from China's Taiwan and her husband Rui-Yang Lin, Executive Member of the Council of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises in Shanghai, contributed 20 million yuan (US $ 2.9 million) to Hubei to aid NCP prevention and control efforts.
Peggy Cherng, Executive Vice-Chairperson of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises in Fuzhou and a recipient of the March 8th Red-banner Holder of Fujian Province, raised 150,000 pairs of medical gloves and delivered them to Lianjiang, a coastal county of Southeast China's Fujian Province.
Chang Chien-Chen, Executive Member of the Council of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland (ATIEM) and Chairperson of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises in Shanghai, organized a fund raising event among Taiwan entrepreneurs and collected a donation of two million yuan (US $286,451) to support the mainland's NCP prevention and control.
In addition, the Working Committee on Women in the ATIEM sent a letter of greeting to the Women's Federation of Hubei Province that expressed support for local women on the frontline on February 8, which was the day of this year's traditional Chinese Lantern Festival.
Li Honglan, Director of the Working Committee on Women in the ATIEM, said that women entrepreneurs of China's Taiwan are very sympathetic to the plight of epidemic-affected women in Hubei and hope they will strengthen self-protection.
She also firmly believes in final victory in the anti-virus fight, and the Working Committee on Women in the ATIEM will work hard to promote the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations.
