The Women's Federation of Qinghai Province, in Northwest China, delivered some 600 "love parcels" worth 450,000 yuan (U.S.$ 64,555) to female medical workers at grassroots level on the frontline of combating the novel coronavirus epidemic in the cities of Xining and Haidong and Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on February 6.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Wang Haihong, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of the Women's Federation of Qinghai Province, expressed the highest respect to all frontline women staff workers and members of the executive committees of local women's federations at all levels in the prevention and control of the contagious virus.
Wang urged the local women's federations to take the lead in organizing local women and their families to fight on the frontline; prioritize the safety and health of people of all ethnic groups; and, strengthen self-protection in the workplace.
According to the province's Women's Federation, the first batch of "love parcels" mainly consist of anti-epidemic items such as hand sanitizer, sanitary tissues, mineral salt, oil-based soap and rubber gloves, as well as some food.
The federation said it would cooperate with Qinghai Women and Children's Development Foundation to raise more funds and medical supplies to aid the battle against the novel coronavirus-caused pneumonia.
