With their professional capability and passion, women volunteers in Beijing have made all-out efforts to the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Women's Federation of Wanzhuangzi Village in Beijing's Pinggu District organized 24 women volunteers, aged from 22 to 66, to raise public awareness of wearing facial masks and reducing outdoor activities, especially to persuade the elderly to stay at home during the epidemic period.

A lawyers' team of protecting legal rights of women and children in Beijing's Huairou District has publicized legal knowledge and provided free counseling services for local residents.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Zhang Jun'e, a member of a local volunteers' team and a psychology teacher with national first-class certificate, has provided psychological counseling services for residents to relieve their anxiety and pressure at home.

The Beijing Association for the Promotion of Family Building and the Beijing Association for the Promotion of Women and Children's Social Service and Development launched an online activity to give psychological guidance and encourage participants to have positive attitude to life through WeChat groups.

In Beijing, hundreds of thousands of women volunteers have participated in the joint prevention and control work of the COVID-19 in residential communities. They enriched residents' lives at home through the Internet, and provided psychological consulting and parent-child reading services.

"Women volunteers have made outstanding contributions to the COVID-19 prevention and control work during the epidemic. We hope women volunteers will continue playing the unique role in safeguarding our homeland," said an official of the Beijing Women's Federation.
